2025 Summit

Nearly 400 leaders in transportation and urban planning joined the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) for the 2nd annual Equity in Motion Summit on April 25, 2025 at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.

Participants exchanged best practices, gained new resources, and established lasting partnerships to advance equity in internal operations, planning, and service delivery. The convening was invite-only and free of cost.

Session I: Ideate

  • How do we envision equitable practices where they do not exist presently?

StreetTalks

The day before the summit, attendees were invited to participate in StreetTalks. These specially curated tours explored NYC DOT's transformative and innovative projects around the city. A variety of tours ranged in topic throughout the day and were guided by NYC DOT practitioners.

Car-Free Earth Day

Attendees were also invited to take part in NYC DOT's annual Car-Free Earth Day on Saturday, April 26, 2025. This annual event features car-free streets, performances, workshops, and fitness classes across all five boroughs. The event was open to the public and offered free programming to promote environmental protection, climate change education, and sustainable transportation.

Exhibitions

Throughout the Summit attendees explored immersive exhibitions and interactive agency activations that showcased inclusive design, public space innovation, and community-centered transportation initiatives.
